Dingle, Daingean Uí Chúis, Corca Dhuibhne

Siopa na bhFíodóirí is located in the heart of Dingle (Daingean Uí Chúis), a thriving fishing port at the edge of the West Kerry Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area). Dingle has a very long seafaring history going back to the Middle Ages and earlier. Traces of its strong 16th century trading connection with Spain can still be seen in the architectural fabric of the town. Prior to the industrial revolution Dingle was an important centre for the growing of flaz and the spinning and weaving by hand of linen cloth.

Nowadays, as well as its fishing, farming and trades people, Dingle has a strong artistic community, representing all fields of the arts from music and literature to the visual and applied arts. You will find a number of shops and galleries showing the work of local artists and designer/makers interspersed with highly recommended restaurants, cafés and pubs.
